On a cold and wet Tuesday afternoon in Fort Covington, Canton 23, Salmon River 4
The Canton Varsity Softball team traveled to Fort Covington on Tuesday afternoon to play the Salmon River Shamrocks. Canton Senior, Courtney Peters pitched a complete game four hitter to earn the victory in the circle.

“Petey didn’t even know she was pitching until the last minute. Coach Brabaw and I decided just before the game that she was the one who could best handle the poor playing conditions. She proved us right and did a great job, stated Coach Wentworth”.
The Bears had to battle the rain and cold to earn a 23-4 victory. “The conditions were tough for both teams today but that is how softball and baseball is played in this area. Coach Willette always said Bears play better in the rain! Today he was right again.”

Tessa Alguire continued her hot bat with three more hits and two RBI’s. Hadley Alguire, Olivia Sero, Ava Hoy and Maya Thomas each stroked two hits in the game. Sero and Hoy also each had a double to add to their box score.

Canton will finish up the regular season at home on Thursday and Friday when OFA and Potsdam come to town.
