Canton came out of the game hot that night, scoring the first eight points of the game and getting Massena in a hole early to start the game that they could not crawl out of. The Bears kept the pressure on all game, with an impressive 16-point performance from Junior Center Ayomi Odeytoimbo with multiple blocks as well. The Bears really connected all of the dots in this game, with their play styles firing on all cylinders, shooting it well from beyond the arc, getting to the basket with ease and playing strong help side defense. The Bears advance to play Heuvelton in the Overall Section X Championship on Friday night.

Canton 59, Heuvelton 42
The Golden Bears won their second consecutive Overall Section X Championship on Friday night against the Heuvelton Bulldogs. The final score of the game was 57-42 in favor of the Bears.
This game was a highly anticipated matchup, as in their only meeting this season the Bears came out victorious. And last year Canton beat them in the same game to win the Championship. The first quarter of play was even as well as most of the second. Canton then gained an eight-point lead as the second quarter ran down and with this momentum it seemed to be that Canton was in the drivers seat.

But Heuvelton shot out of a cannon in the third quarter, scoring the first eight points of the quarter and tying up the game. But then a timeout was called for the Bears and they pulled it together. With an impressive effort on both ends of the court for the remainder of the third and fourth quarter the Bears were able to secure the win. Canton cut down the nets and rejoiced as they were back to back Section X Champions.
The Bears will now play Saturday in the second round of the NYSPHSA Boys Class C Championships against the winner of Chatham and Moriah.
