On Tuesday the Golden Bears struggled to get their game going in the first quarter of the game, giving up a season-high 17 points in the first quarter and scoring only 8. The Bears confidence was sparked after a crucial steal and break-away layup from Sophomore John Wilcox. In the second quarter the Bears rode this momentum and ended the quarter down only one point.
In the third quarter the Bears took the lead and Freshman Point Guard Zadok Roiger had five points and multiple assists. In the fourth quarter the Golden Bears started to pull away and came alive when Sophomore Charlie Todd came alive, cashing in two threes and 12 total points on the quarter. The Bears won the game by a final score of 53-43.
Canton 44, Malone 37
On Friday the Golden Bears faced of against a much stronger Malone Huskies team than when they played earlier in the year. The Bears defensive effort started off strong, holding the Huskies to five points but the Bears only scored 10 of their own. In the second quarter the Bears pulled away, scoring 15 points and leading into half by 13.
Shortly into the second half Bears Sophomore Captain Jackson Ames was on the receiving end of a collision under the basket and sustained a head injury which put him out for the rest of the season. He is currently doing well and his teammates wish him a quick recovery.
After this the JV Bears did not play well for the rest of the third quarter, allowing a 17 point quarter for the Huskies and scoring only 8, giving Malone lots of momentum going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, Zadok Roiger made four trips to the free-throw line, scoring four of his seven attempts and leading the Bears to a 44-37 win over Malone.
