In Canton on Jan. 4, Canton 42, Indian River 21

The Canton JV Girls Basketball hosted the Indian River Warriors on Wednesday night in Jerry Hourihan Gymnasium. The young Bears came away with a 42-21 victory despite starting the game with only six healthy players.
Sara Aldous led all scorers with 17 points followed by fellow sophomore Haley Burnett with 12.  Jenna Larrabee led the team in rebounding, finishing the game with 12.

“The girls really played well tonight, especially in the second half. Putting seventeen points on the board in the third quarter really opened things up for us,” Coach Mike Wentworth said. “We had some girls step up big for us today with only having six kids to start the game. That was a fun one to watch from the sideline. How about Jenna tonight on the boards. She really takes pride in boxing out and coming down with a rebound.  Today she was a machine under the glass.” “”

The Bears won’t be in action again until next Thursday, when they travel to Gouverneur to face the only once beaten Wildcats.
Box Score:
Aldous: 17, Burnett: 12, Alguire: 4, Larrabee: 4, Moumen: 3, Larsen: 2
