In Canton on Tuesday Night, Canton 40, Potsdam 33
The Canton JV Girls Basketball team survived a scare on Dec. 20, surviving a late rally by the Potsdam Sandstoners. The young Bears finished with a 40-33 victory but it wasn’t easy by any means. The Bears had an 11-point lead going into the fourth but the Stoners cut that lead to three with 1:30 left in the game, when Tessa Alguire made a three-point play at that point to put Canton up six and hold them off for the win.

Alguire led all scorers with 16 points, followed up by Haley Burnett and Kaitlyn Redfern with 8 and 7 points each.
“We continue to play good defense and rebound well which has kept us in games. We have to concentrate more on taking care of the basketball and turning not turning the ball over for us to take the next step. It was nice to see Kaitlyn Redfern and Elle White have strong games tonight against Potsdam,” Said Coach Wentworth.
