Four Canton swimmers qualified for the NYSPHSAA Swimming State Championships November 18th and 19th in Webster, NY. By virtue of their Sectional victories, Lexi Stuntz, Kaitlyn Redfern, Maya Thomas, and Tessa Alguire will represent Canton Central and Section X at the state meet. The foursome will compete in the 200 yard medley relay. They will be joined by relay alternates Skyler Sanderson and Madison Mitchell.
Both Lexi and Kaitlyn will also compete in two individual events at the meet. Lexi will swim in the 500 yard freestyle as well as the 100 yard backstroke. She is a two-time individual qualifier for states in the 100 backstroke. Kaitlyn will compete in the 200 Individual Medley as well as the 100 breaststroke. Kaitlyn, the Section X record holder in the 100 breaststroke, is making her first trip to the NYSPHSAA championship as an 8th grader.
This will be an exciting end to the season as the relay and each swimmer is undefeated in their events in Section X, but will face much faster competition at the state level.
