Bears Football Falls to Gouverneur

Gouverneur 40, Canton 6

On Friday evening the Canton Golden Bears fell to the Wildcats of Gouverneur. The Bears played an on-and-off game, seeing many ups and downs throughout the four quarters. The general reason for the loss however was the Bears’ turnovers. The Bears threw two interceptions and lost three fumbles.

On the day defensively, the Bears gave up 433 yards, 280 of which on the ground. Leading the Bears in tackles were senior captain outside linebackers James Bailey and Erich Zuhlsdorf with six total each.

Offensively the Bears gained 15 first downs and possessed the ball for 28 minutes and 14 seconds. The Bears were also four-for-five on their fourth down conversion attempts. Leading the Bears offensively were Erich Zuhlsdorf with 79 rushing yards and 34 receiving. Also making a difference offensively was Sophomore halfback Josh Ayrassian with 48 yards and the Bears’ longest run of the day (22 yards).
