Boys Modified Soccer Beats Potsdam

Canton 4, Potsdam 1

In the Sept. 21 Potsdam, Canton duel the Bears took the win on the road.

Cloudy but hot, this match was far from one-sided in the first half. Opening the scoring was Potsdam’s Aiden Draper. Draper’s quick feet led him into the 18-yard box where he then kicked the ball into the bottom corner just trickling past goalkeeper Parker Ames for Potsdam’s first and last goal of the evening.

Then just minutes later Canton Bears captain Colden Francey found the net with a beautifully placed direct kick just squeezing its way in between the goalkeeper’s hands and the cross bar. This goal evened the score at one.

Going into half Coach Myers gave his team some inspirational words which led to a great second half for the boys in white. Just as the sun came out, so did the Bears.

In the third quarter striker Owen Logan placed a lefty top corner on the Potsdam net. Just a couple stops later by Canton’s stingy D-Middy Aaron Rosales put up a soaring corner kick which then led to a determined finish by the Bears’ striker Nate Gidney. With his first of the year, Nate had a grin on his face a mile long.

After this momentum shifting goal Canton marched back down the field and this time for his second of the game Owen Logan hit a blast that soared past the Sandstoners goalie. The game ended in a 4-1 Bears defeat over the Potsdam Sandstoners.
