The junior varsity Bears (3-0) made the trip to Carthage on Tuesday, Sept. 6 and came away with a 5-1 victory.

Canton jumped out to an early lead on a Will Andes goal, assisted by Josh McLear. McLear then got his own goal two minutes later on a sweet pass from Andrew Brown. The young Bear Cubs tacked on three more goals in the second half. Gavin Schriver, McLear and Zadok Roiger scored. Daniel Creurer (3), and Lucas Howie also had assists in the game. Roiger ended the game with one save and one goal.

“We controlled the field much better today. I like the short passing game and today we made a lot of progress in that area.  Our line was also much more aggressive attacking the net. “ said Head Coach Mike Wentworth.

Canton 10, Chateaugay 0

The Canton Boys JV Soccer team hosted the Chateaugay Bulldogs on Thursday, Sept. 8. With the boys varsity on the road, the Cubs got the opportunity to play on Roger Dusharm field for possibly the last time before they turn it into a parking lot next spring.

“This field has a lot of tradition and it is going to be sad to see it go next year. The boys were excited to get the opportunity to play on it,” said Wentworth.

Canton came out fired up and it showed as they scored 10 unanswered goals to top the Bulldogs 10-0. Goals were scored by Will Andes (3), Andrew Brown(2), Tommy Husinec (2), Aidan Doyle-Rodriguez (1), Zadok Roiger (1), Grady Nee(1). Gavin Schriver dished out four assists. Also earning assists were Josh McClear and Lucas Howie.

“Our ball movement and spacing is getting better every game. All the hard work is starting to show on the field, ” noted Coach Wentworth.
