JV Girls: Canton 37, NAC 21 in Canton on Monday night.

The Canton girls JV Basketball team seems to always play tougher when their back is against the wall. On Monday night they again played short handed without point guard Vivian Coburn and forward Winnie Downs but battled visiting NAC for a 37-21 victory.
“Playing without a couple of our more experienced players is always tough, especially when one of them is a point guard. This team seems like they like to be challenged and it is fun to see what girl is going to step up next in times when we really need a basket or a stop.” said Coach Mike Wentworth.

Leading the junior Bears in scoring on Monday night was eighth grader Olivia White who slashed to the basket for 14 points/4 steals. Also contributing in a balanced scoring attach were Tessa Alguire (8 points/12 Rebounds), Sara Aldous (7 points), Jenna Larrabee (4 points, 9 Rebounds), Haley Burnet and Salma Moumen (2 points)
The girls will again be in action at Jerry Hourihan Gymnasium on Wednesday night when the Gouverneur Wildcats come into town. Tip Off is scheduled for 5:30
Varsity Score: Canton 40, NAC 43 The Hoy sisters led The Varsity girls in scoring on Monday night in a tough loss to visiting NAC. Ava and Maddie Hoy led the team in scoring with eleven points each.
