The Canton Golden Bears Varsity Boys Hockey team is excited to start a new season.

Senior goaltender Hayden Todd and senior defensemen Scott Ahlfeld and Kaden Baxter will lead the team on the back end, while Rhett Palmer, Brad Frank, and Drew Blevins look to make a mark up front. The Bears will benefit from young talent as much of the Bears roster will return next year. A scrimmage against Watertown/IHC showed promise up and down the lineup.

Head Coach Anthony Levato had this to say, “I’m excited about this group. We have a good mix of veteran players and young guys. They work hard and we are starting to enjoy the preparation process. It will be fun to watch them improve as the year goes on.”

Among other remarkable things this team has accomplished, the Bears regularly volunteer their time Saturday mornings to help teach young skaters at Cub Club. Volunteering in the community is a deed highly valued by the Golden Bears.

The Bears will take the ice to start the season in Potsdam on Friday, December 3 at 8 p.m. against Batavia Notre-Dame. The Bears will close out the Potsdam tournament the following day against Saranac Central at 1 p.m. After last year, the Bears look forward to a full schedule and a variety of challenges.

The Bears would like to thank everyone for their support in the annual bottle drive, along with Shoulette’s bottle redemption.
