Canton Volleyball Wins First Round Of Playoffs Sweeping Potsdam 3-0

In Canton, November 2, 2021

On Tuesday Canton girls varsity volleyball team was in fine form, easily winning three straight sets against Potsdam, 25-16, 25-4, 25-12 in the Class C semi-final match for Section X playoffs.
Outside hitter Katie Bennett had a stellar night, delivering 13 kills, 10 aces, 3 blocks, 2 digs and 6 points served. Hitter Ava Hoy contributed 7 kills, 6 aces, an assist and 5 points served. Setter Mattigan Porter had 21 assists, 2 aces, 1 kill and 6 points served.

Middle hitter Julianna Richardson handed out 2 kills and opposite hitter Riley Taylor also offered support with 1 kill, 1 ace, 2 digs and 4 points served. Libero Jade Stevenson added 5 digs, an ace and served up 5 points.

The Bears are on to the Class C final on Thursday at Suny Canton Roos House where they’ll face Salmon River. Game time is at 7 pm.
