The Canton Boys Varsity Soccer Team beat the Malone Huskies, 3-1 Thursday evening.

The Bears played well for the complete 80 minutes. Canton Captain Scott Ahlfeld won his seventh straight coin toss, so the Bears were attacking with the sun at their backs to score a goal early. Goals were scarce for the Bears in the first 60 minutes of the game, and while chances were everywhere for everyone, no goals could be scored by either team in the first half.

The Bears continued to hound the Huskies, but still no goals could be scored. In a startling turn of events, it was Malone that scored first. Down 1-0, it was not clear if the Bears could make a recovery from their current position.

Any uncertainty was soon dispelled when Owen Hall took and hit the head of Jack Kerrigan, Kerrigan drawing the Bears level at 1-1. No more than a minute later, Zack Moumen set Brad Frank up for a shot he could only try to miss, and Frank put the Bears up 2-1. To cap off the Bears scoring, a head to head pass from Vincent Nelson-Fuse to Josh Aldous added to the Canton lead. A well fought game from not only the Bears starters, but also the second line, who kept pressure and had quality opportunities.

Canton will look to carry over Thursday’s performance to Tuesday, when they play the Ogdensburg Blue Devils on their home turf.
