Canton 5, SLC 4
Ike Noble Fields-Canton: After waiting an extra day because of rain and poor field conditions the Bears faced off with the up and coming St. Lawrence Central Larries in the overall Section X Semi Finals at Ike Noble Field in Canton. The Larries jumped on the Bears in the top of the first inning by scoring three runs off an RBI double from McKenna Bowles. Canton battled back to put one on the board in the first but trailed the entire game until the bottom of the sixth.
In the sixth Canton pushed three runs across to take a 5-4 lead into the seventh. In the seventh senior Natalie Warner made two game saving catches in right field and Cate DeCoteau threw a runner out at second to secure the win and push the Bears into the Section X finals. Ava Hoy picked up the win while Hadley Alguire pitched the first five innings striking out five. Sydnee Francis and Ava Hoys had the only two hits for the Bears.

“This was a real Gut Check for us today. SLC came to play and they gave us everything we could handle. They are a very well coached team and they will be the team to beat next year. Cate DeCoteau and Natalie Warner made two huge defensive plays in the seventh inning to save the game for us.” stated Canton Coach Mike Wentworth.

The Bears will be back on the field on Thursday against the Hammond Red Devils to settle the first overall Section X champion since 1985. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 at Ike Noble field. All are welcome to attend. FREE ADMISSION!
