The Canton Golden Bears Softball team (17-2) wrapped up their regular season on Monday with a non league game against the East leading Norwood Norfolk Flyers (12-4). Canton pitchers Hadley Alguire and Ava Hoy combined to hurl a two-hit shutout against Norwood-Norfolk, while each also contributed two hits at the plate. Canton jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, added four runs in the second, and plated seven runs in the fourth inning. Hadley Thornton drove in three runs. K.J. Belmore led Norwood-Norfolk with two hits.
“We scored a lot of runs today and a lot of different girls hit the ball today which is nice to see. We had a great regular season and now it is time to see what we can do in the playoffs.” The Bears will be back on the field on Wednesday as they will face the winner of the Potsdam/Salmon River game at Ike Noble Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00.
