Monday afternoon at Ike Noble Field The Canton Golden Bears Varsity Softball team faced off with the division leading Franklin Academy Huskies. With the win the Bears were able to regain the top spot in the Central Division. Canton(12-2) wasted no time, scoring five runs in the first inning and finished with a 11-3 win over Malone (9-2).

Given the early lead, Hadley Alguire struck out eight in a five-hitter and Lucy DeCoteau, Brooke Larrabee and Lexi Huiatt doubled and singled to lead a 13-hit winning offense against the talented Malone pitcher, Rylie McCauley.
“The girls played with a lot of enthusiasm today. It seems like we have had a different girl step up every day. Today was Lucy DeCoteau’s first varsity game and she smoked three hits off one of the top pitchers in the section,” said Bears Coach Mike Wentworth.

Also coming through with hits for the Bears were: Alguire, Natalie Warner, Hadleigh Thorton, Ava Hoy and Megan Davis. The Huskies were led by Rylie McCauley who ripped two singles on the day.
The Bears will be on the road on Wednesday as they will make the trip down route 11 to face the Gouverneur Wildcats. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00pm!

Courtney Peters pitched a complete game, striking 10 and scattered 6 hits. Olivia Sero went 2-3 with a double and Emma Logan went 2-3 and scored 2 runs. The junior Bears will be back in action on Tuesday as they will face off with Madrid Waddington at Ike Noble Fields. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30
