Canton (11-2, 8-1) moved into a tie for first place with Malone. Hadleigh Thorton rapped two doubles and a single and Cate DeCoteau, Ava Hoy and Courtney Peters also finished with three hits for Canton and Sydnee Francis added two hits. Lexi Huiatt and Brooke Larrabee both connected for triples. McKenna Bowles doubled for SLC and Rylee Daoust, Chantel McCarthy, Hannah Agans and Brionna Foster all singled.

“We played much better today. St. Lawrence Central is young and very well coached. People will read a lot about them next year. We are thin with a couple of injuries so we brought up freshman Ava Hoy and sophomore Courtney Peters up from the JV team to play today and they both played very well,” said Canton Coach Mike Wentworth.

The Bears will be back in action again on Monday as they will face off with the central division leaders Malone Huskies in round two of the NAC Softball rivalry. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 on Ike Noble Field
