Massena 11 Canton 10
The Golden Bears Varsity Softball team made the trip to Massena on Thursday afternoon to face off with the Red Raiders. Kristen Oliver doubled and Joey Abrantes singled in a five-run bottom of the seventh inning where Massena rallied to the win with five runs. Lexi Huiatt and Hadleigh Thorton both singled twice for Canton (10-2) and Hadley Alguire singled and pitched a complete game striking out five. Natalie Warner and Cate DeCoteau also singled for the Bears.
“Massena played great today and we struggled to make plays on defense. Give Massena all the credit, they played better than we did today. Those types of games happen in sports like Baseball and Softball. Tomorrow is a new day and we will regroup for our game against SLC on Friday.” said Canton Coach Mike Wentworth.

Courtney Peters and Ava Hoy split the pitching duties with Peters pitching 3 innings, striking out 7 and Hoy throwing 2 innings striking out 5. Leading the juniors Bears at the plate was Lucy DeCoteau who went 6-7. Peters and Olivia Sero also had 4 hits apiece.
