Following up on a 10-6 win Monday at OFA, Canton came out on top at home 9-3 by stranding eight OFA runners on the bases in the first four innings and then scoring six unanswered runs over the last three innings.

Alguire has moved into the stopper role on the mound for Canton with Emily Wentworth sidelined with an injury and the Golden Bears as a team stepped up on offense according to Golden Bears’ Coach Mike Wentworth.
“We are without Emily Wentworth for a while because of an injury. As a team we have really come together and tried to keep things rolling while Em is out. OFA is a very dangerous and well-coached team. We got some timely hits and played solid defense when we needed it today.” said Canton Coach Mike Wentworth.

The Bears consistently denied OFA’s bid for big hits capped by shortstop Lexi Huiatt snagging a line drive off the bat of Friot and doubling up a runner at third to snuff out a major threat in the fourth inning. The Devils scored twice to gain a 3-3 tie and loaded the bases with one out.
Haldey Alguire struck out 9 OFA hitters who combined to produce eight hits on the day. Huiatt singled three times and scored three runs for Canton, Alguire doubled and singled, Cate DeCoteau doubled and drove in four runs and Brooke Larrabee also doubled. Hadleigh Thorton delivered two key singles and Natalie Warner lined a two-run single. “Natalie Warner surprises me every day. She has come up with some big hits lately and today she moved to first base because of the Wentworth injury and did a great job there” stated Coach Wentworth
Bailey Friot led OFA with three singles and singled home Emily Farrand who led off the game with a double. Katherine Smith drove in two runs with a double and Emma LeBeau and Ramie Blackburn each singled. The Bears will be back in action on Thursday as they will make the trip to Massena to face off with the Red Raiders. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00pm
