This past Thursday evening the Canton Central School Boys Swim Team which is comprised of student-athletes from Potsdam and Lisbon central Schools, as well as host school Canton Central defeated the Gouverneur Wildcats by a score of 63-57. The win marks the first of the 2021 season and is a remarkable achievement considering that the team started their season several weeks after the Wildcats.
During a “Virtual” meet the team swim in their own pools and an official assigned by Section X monitors the rules and times so that a fair and competitive meet is insured. This format allows the teams to remain competitive while remaining socially distant from the other school. Once the times are recorded the results are compared and places are assigned. This allows a score to be recorded and a winner declared in each event and the meet.
