Canton had moments of strong offense and defense but throughout the course of the game LG played incredible defense and was dominant at the net. Many points for LG came with service aces as the Bears were unable to pass the difficult serves. The team put full effort into the match however, the game was not the team’s best performance this season.
Setter Kelsea Whittier had 10 assists and six service points, hitter Gretchen Warner had six kills, and libero Gabby Rauth had 15 digs and 11 return of serves. During the match Whittier set her 1,000th assist and finished her career with 1,007 assists.
This was a sad ending of a successful season for the girls. The team was hoping to pull out a win yet, the season overall was very successful. Canton was the Section X champions for Class C, and placed second in the overall Section X championship. This team was also the section champs last season making many members of the squad back-to-back champions, the first time in over 20 years. The season was filled with high energy matches, athletic and powerful plays, and fun team bonding events.
The team’s nine seniors have left their mark on Canton Volleyball for years to come and have bettered the program as a whole. The team has many talented underclassmen who are ready to step up and control the team next season and the future looks bright for Canton Volleyball. Go Bears!
