The varsity volleyball team beat Gouverneur for the third time this season on Tuesday. In three sets, 25-6, 25-16, 25-11, the Bears were able to control the game and continue their season. The key to this win for the team was their consistent serving. Six players had at least three service aces and 10 players scored at least one ace.
This win will lead the Bears to the Section X Championship game. Canton faces Potsdam on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. in the SUNY Potsdam Field House. Canton is the defending champs where they beat the Sandstoners last season, and hope to repeat the victory.
Along with the excellent serving, the team kept strong play at the net. Eighth Grader Ava Hoy scored her first varsity kills, with two kills and three aces. Gretchen Warner had five kills and four aces, Sydney Lorenc had three aces and two kills. Setter Kelsea Whittier had seven assists. The team would like to thank all of their fan support in costumes. Please come support again next week for the Section X Championship. Go Bears!
