The Lady Bears get their 3rd straight shoutout, beating Salmon River 2-0.
The Bears have used the past few games as redemption from the beginning of the season. Tuesday’s game tightened their league record to 3-2.
On Tuesday night, Canton was missing three of their top players due to injury. This called for other players to step up, fill positions, and play more minutes. The Bears didn’t see the injury’s as a set back but, as a time to strengthen the rest of their team. As Coach Kiah would say, “your only as strong as your weakest link”. Every player for Canton saw the field, more than once, and put in a great effort. Specifically, Quinn Woodward stepped up and played well for the Bears on Tuesday night.
The Bears played offensively throughout the first half and dominated the field. After 25 minutes of play, Megan Laflair came off the bench hungry for a goal. She was able to rip one in making it 1-0. After, Salmon River had a few offensive attacks, but Abbi Dent was able to keep the Bears in it. Salmon had a great shot, however, she was able to get a hand on it, and tapped it over the net to keep the score 1-0.
The Bears and Dent looked to keep the shutout after the first half. They continued to play offensively and looked to get another goal. Eighteen minutes in, Senior Katie Chisholm shot the ball into the top left corner and scored for the Bears. She was a lead competitor for the Bears. In the second half, the Bears had 9 shots and the Shamrocks had 3. Although the score didn’t rise, the Bears worked hard till the final minute.
The Lady Bears look to get another win this Thursday. They play OFA in Canton at 4:30. Come out and support!
