In Ogdensburg, Canton 47, OFA 15
The Canton girls JV basketball season opened up the season on Friday night at Ogdensburg Free Academy. The Bears earned a 47-15 victory over the Blue Devils.
Freshman, Tessa Alguire led all scorers with 21 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Haley Burnett and eighth grader Kaitlyn Redfern netted six points each. Sophomore Sara Aldous tossed in five points and eight steals. Seventh grader Elle White and Freshman Jenna Larrabee (10 rebounds) finished with four points apiece.
“We played very hard tonight. I don’t think anyone will out hustle us or work harder. We just need to take care of the basketball and value the ball a little more. This is the type of group that I think we will see improvement every game,” said Coach Mike Wentworth.
The young Bears will be back on the court on Monday night when the Malone Huskies visits Jerry Hourihan gymnasium. Tip Off is scheduled for 5:30.
