Canton girls varsity soccer (8-2) has two weeks left in the regular season and sits in second place in the Central Division behind undefeated Massena (10-0). Gouverneur is currently in third place (6-5). The Bears went 1-1 this week after beating Ogdensburg 2-0 at home on Monday and falling 2-1 on the road in Malone on Thursday. The Bears hope to finish strong to gain momentum heading into the playoffs. Canton will be competing in Class C this year for New York State playoffs which is a change from recent years of competing in Class B.
The Bears have an important home match against Massena on Wednesday and it’s a must-win for a shot at the division title. After that, they have an away match against Potsdam on Saturday, with Salmon River and Norwood the following week to close out the season.
