The Golden Bears girls JV squad hosted Norwood-Norfolk on Sept. 27 and won 5-0 in a dominating display. The win was impressive given the team is still struggling with numbers, with many out due to injuries and illness.
The first half started out slow and the Bears struggled to score. They peppered the Norwood goaltender tallying a whopping 53 shots in the game. Kailin Backus capitalized off a goal kick to put one in the back of the net and Sara Aldous followed up with a second goal with the assist from Backus.
Canton managed to run away with the game in the second half by scoring three unanswered goals.
“We had a talk at the half about spreading out and working harder with more urgency in front of the net,” noted Head Coach Kim French.
The girls responded with Backus notching her second goal of the contest just after the kickoff by dribbling through multiple defenders. Olivia Francey assisted on the goal. Sarah Aldous followed up with two more goals for the hat trick.
