Canton’s Ryan Jones competed at the New York State Junior Amateur Championship at Soaring Eagles Golf Course at Mark Twain State Park in Horseheads on July 26 and 27.
Jones shot 76 and 82 for the tournament, good for a tie for 44th place at 16-over par.
Jones will head back to the North Country to compete in North Country Junior Golf Tour events until he travels to Onondaga Golf and Country Club for the Men’s Amateur Championship Aug. 9 through 11.
Jones qualified for both the Junior and Men’s Amateur Championships after shooting 78 at Malone Golf Club on July 9. Jones’ father, Aaron, will be caddying for him for the first time at the Men’s Amateur.
