Upcoming North Country Races

Several athletic races are on the docket across the North Country this summer and deep into the fall. These races — which range from competitive duathlons to fun runs — feature running, biking, paddling and swimming in various settings across the region.

Tuesday, June 28 – Norwood Duathlon Series Race #1
Start time will be 6 p.m. This event will consist of a 1.5 mile run, 8 mile bike and 1.5 mile run. Cost for the Duathlons will be $15 each and can be done as an individual or team. Minors must have parental consent.

Tuesday, July 12 – Summer Sunset Series Race #2
The one mile fun run starts at 7:15 p.m., followed by the 5K cross country race at 7:30 p.m. Registration and race start location is the J-lot at St. Lawrence University off of Park Street. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. in the J-lot on the St. Lawrence University campus in Canton, NY. There is no pre-registration. Entry fee is $7 for the series or $3 for a single event. Please bring cash or check only.

Wednesday, July 13 – Hoswegatchie Duathlon Series #2
The second of three Hoswegatchie Duathlon races will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Hosmer’s Marina in Ogdensburg. The race will consist of a 1.5 mile run, 8 mile bike, and 1.5 mile run. The cost is $10 per race, or $20 for the series. All racers must be 13 years or older to participate. For more information, visit CGSW Racing on Facebook.

Saturday, July 16 – 2022 Louisville Turtle Trot
The Louisville Turtle Trot is a 3.4 mile run-walk and will be held at Whalen Park on Route 131 in Louisville beginning at 10 a.m. Same day registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Medals will be awarded at the end of the race to first place male and female winners in seven age categories: 15 & under; 16-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+. Wednesday, July 20 – St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers Wednesday Duathlon
The third installment of the St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers Wednesday Duathlon will be held on the Little River in Canton, adjacent to the campus of St. Lawrence University. The duathlon consists of a 1.25 mile run, a 1.25 mile paddle and is completed by another 1.25 mile run. The start and finish line is located near the Little River Boat Launch at the Park Street (CR 27) Bridge. Teams consisting of paddlers and runners, or solo participants are welcome. Race registration is free and opens at 5:30 p.m. The duathlons begin at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 7 – SOS (Save Our Schoolhouse) 5K Run & Fun Walk
The George Persson Memorial 5K Run/Fun Walk sponsored by the SOS will be held at 11:00 a.m. from the old Star Lake Schoolhouse. Cost is $25 for adults, and $12 for students. Click here for a registration sheet.

Saturday, Oct. 1 – Dryden Loop the Lake 5K/10K
The Dryden Loop the Lake 5K or 10K helps raise money for the Dryden Rotary Club international youth exchange program. One loop around Dryden Lake is 3.1 miles (5K) while two loops will get you the 10K distance (6.2 miles). The 5K begins at 10 a.m. and the 10K begins at 10:15 a.m. Cost is $35 for 5K in person, $37 virtual, $40 for 10K in person, $47 virtual. Click here for more information or to register.

Saturday, Nov. 19 – 25th Anniversary of Hobble Gobble
The 25th annual Hobble Gobble Prediction Run/Walk will be held at The Stables at Windy Point. More information to come.
