The Canton Golden Bears Varsity Basketball team defeated the Indian River Warriors this previous Saturday with a final score of 51 to 30.
Chris Downs led the charge for the Bears with 18 points. Sam Roiger followed that up with 13 of his own. The Bears jumped out to a quick lead at the beginning of the game and the Warriors had no response. Indian River struggled offensively during the first quarter, only scoring two points over the eight-minute span.
After the first quarter, the Bears had a commanding 15 point lead. Indian River then picked up the pace on the offensive end in the remaining three quarters, only outscored by the Bears over the rest of the game by a total of six points. Although they chipped at the lead and tried to crawl back into the game, the 15 point lead that the Bears took after the first quarter seemed to be too big of a hump for them to get back over and make it a close game.
With this win, it propelled the Bears to an impressive 13-2 record. The Bears look to add another win to their resume against Salmon River this Thursday during senior night.
