Canton Golden Bears varsity volleyball swept Saranac Lake Red Storm Wednesday at Suny Canton in the Section 7 vs. Section 10 semi-final, posting scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-15.
Opposite hitter Riley Taylor was in fine serving form once again, contributing 14 points for the Bears. Taylor also added 2 digs and an ace.
Hitters Katie Bennett and Ava Hoy added 10 and 9 kills for the game. Bennett also posted 4 digs. Hoy also served up 8 points and 4 aces.
Setter Mattigan Porter supplied 16 assists, 5 aces, 5 digs, a kill and 4 points. Promising JV players also performed well. Josie Gabriel posted 3 points, 2 aces and 4 blocks. Katie Metcalf added 3 points and an ace.
The Bears winning streak is now 22-0 as they head to the Regional Match Saturday where they’ll play Fonda-Fultonville In Gloversville, NY. Game time is 2:00 pm. Golden Bears Booster Club will be live – streaming the game on their Facebook page.
