On Friday in Canton, Canton 5, Massena 0
The Canton Golden Bears boys soccer team faced off against the Massena Red Raiders on Friday the 10th, beating them by a score of 5-0. The Bears had plenty of opportunities early to score but just couldn’t connect. The game was controlled by the Bears most of the time with the Bears generating offense from every side of the field and playing exceptional on defense, only allowing a couple of shots on net in the first half. The Red Raiders Defense had to clear the ball constantly in order to keep the Bears from scoring.

Midway through the first half Sophomore Garret Palmer finally broke the ice by picking up his first goal of the season and receiving the game ball. Also scoring were sophomores Jonney Mclear, Jacob Rosales and Ethan Francey who tickled the twine twice on the night. In the second half the Bears played very well offensively but in turn gave up a couple of shots on net that the Bears keeper Jackson Ames, and in the later parts of the half, Ryan Jones was able to stop. “We definitely came to play tonight. Ryan Jones and Ethan Francey did a great job controlling the middle of the field and our defense has been awesome. Those guys take pride in keeping the ball away from keeper Jackson Ames who only needed to stop five shots for the JV Bears.” Stated coach Mike Wentworth.
The Bears play at home against Malone on Thursday at 4:30.
