In Ogdensburg, Canton 2 OFA 1 (OT)
On Friday night the Canton Boys JV Soccer team traveled to Ogdensburg to play in the championship game of the Gerard Cring Memorial Soccer Tournament. The game turned out to be an outstanding JV soccer game with a play off like atmosphere. The Bears scored first early in the game on a goal from Jonney Mclear. Ryan “RJ” Jones provided the assist on the goal. Canton carried a 1-0 lead late into the second half until OFA poked one in to tie the game up and push the game to overtime.

In the extra frame the Junior Bears scored off a sweet threw ball by Ethan Francey which Jacob Rosales buried for the game winner. “This was a great JV soccer game between two good teams. The difference in the game was the fact that our defense played very well, led by tournament MVP Daniel Cruerer and sweeper Jake “Mort” Backus. The entire defense unit played very good and Jones and Francey really did a great job controlling the middle of the field.”
Jackson Ames finished the game with 7 saves with Canton outshooting OFA 23 to 9. The Bears will be back in action on Wednesday as they will host the always tough Watertown Cyclones in Canton on Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 4:30.
