Bears Downed By Cats

The Canton Golden Bears drop to 0-3 after a disappointing loss to Gouverneur Wednesday night. The Bears third game saw improvement, but 6 errors made it difficult to win.

The Bears struck first in the top of the second inning, after Luke Wentworth drove in Lane Rayburn and David Zuhlsdof. Tanner Hazelton then got a hit to drive in Wentworth. The Bears had their first lead of the season. In the bottom of the same inning, two hits from the middle of the Gouverneur lineup and a double helped close the lead to 3-2.

The bottom of the 4th saw more trouble for the Bears. 2 errors led to two runs scoring. The Bears continued to give extra outs in the 5th inning, where the Bears threw the ball around and cost themselves outs. All said and done, the Bears lost 8-3 by the end of the game.
David Zuhlsdorf picked up his third start of the season, going 5 innings with 7 hits, 3 walks, and 3 earned runs. Tanner Hazelton pitched the 6th, giving up no hits and walking one.
