Wednesday night the Canton Girls JV Basketball team traveled to Potsdam to face their Route 11 Rival for their final game of the season. The young Bears have been playing their best basketball of the season lately and it showed by outscoring the Sandtoners 23-8 in the first quarter en route to a 51-38 final.
The win pushes the young Bears final record to 15-5.
“The improvement that this group of girls has shown since they stepped on the court in November is unbelievable. The results show how hard they have worked and how focused they have been all winter,” Coach Mike Wentworth said.
Eighth grader Ava Hoy again led all scorers with a career high 29 points, 10 rebounds. Also putting points on the board for Canton was Amelia Rodee (6 points, 12 rebounds), Mattie Porter (6 points), Camryn Sipher (3 points) Lindsey Filiatrault, Courtney Peters (2 points) Hadley Alguire, Alyssa Jacob Wyatt Newman (1 point)
