The Canton girls modified basketball team wrapped up their outstanding season under first-year head coach Stevie Nellenback with a pair of wins over OFA in Canton on Monday. The seventh graders won 25-20 and the eighth graders shot past the Blue Devils 32-17.
In the seventh-grade game, Winnie Downs pumped in seven points to lead the Bears. Cecily Shipman had a terrific defensive game coming up with several key steals and she finished with six points. Haley Burnett and Ava Newvine added four points apiece. Alexa Romano had two points, and Gracen Parker and Sara Aldous chipped in with one point each.
The eighth graders were led by Katie Metcalf and Laurel Whittier, who drained a bunch of outside shots en route to scoring eight points apiece. Stella Shipman and Josie Gabriel each contributed six points, and Ava Ames added four points.
