The Canton girls modified basketball team split at Malone on Monday. The seventh graders held off the Huskies 15-14 while the eighth graders saw a comeback fall just short in a 21-19 loss.
Winnie Downs led the seventh graders with six points. Sara Aldous dropped in five points, and Vivian Coburn and Gracen Parker added two points apiece.
The eighth-grade squad was led by Josie Gabriel who scored nine points. Maysa Moumen contributed four points. Stella Shipman and Laurel Whittier scored three points each.
The Bears return home this Friday to face Gouverneur.
