The Canton girls modified basketball team swept St. Lawrence Central Wednesday night. The seventh grade team won 30-26 and the eighth graders beat the Larries 30-22 to stay undefeated.
A strong first half carried the seventh graders to the win. The Bears led 18-12 after the first half. Vivian Coburn led the Bears with 12 points. Sara Aldous and Winnie Downs each scored six points. Gracen Parker netted four points, and Haley Burnett chipped in with two.
In the eighth grade game, Canton led 20-18 after three quarters, and then outscored St. Lawrence Central 10-4 in the final frame to stay unbeaten. Josie Gabriel led the Bears with 11 points. Laurel Whittier dropped in nine points. Katie Metcalf returned to action after missing the last three games with an ankle injury and scored six points. Stella Shipman and Ava Ames added two points apiece.
The two teams will meet again on Tuesday, January 21 in Canton.
