On Thursday the Lady Bears traveled to Ogdensburg. They played a strong game and won 54-35.
Canton started off strong with 16 points in the first quarter. Despite Ogdensburg’s size and strength under the basket, Canton used their speed to record a 29-17 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Bears had a little drop in their game allowing 14 points against their own 16. Though the Bears got into some foul trouble it allowed other players to get the chance to play in the game. The Blue Devils were a brick wall under the basket and forced Canton to score on the outside and on fast breaks. Seven three pointers for the Golden Bears and many points on transition resulted in the victory.
The win was lead by a great performance from Katie Chisholm who scored 25 points. Sarah Sieminski also had a good night with 15 points. Other scores for the Bears were Gretchen Warner and Esther Shipman with four and two from Mary Lobdell, Abbi Dent, and Maddie Hoy.
The Bears play again on Monday at 7 p.m. in Massena. Monday is the start of the latter half of the season for the girls varsity basketball team and they are excited to continue improving into the post season. Go Bears!
