The Canton Golden Bears defeated Potsdam 66-51 in a NAC Central Division Matchup.
Despite the victory, Canton got off to a slow start Tuesday night in Potsdam. The Bears came out cold from behind the arc in the first quarter connecting on only two three-pointers. Despite the slow start offensively, Canton battled defensively. The Bears’ pressure caused many turnovers and forced shots for Potsdam. In the second quarter Canton started connect on a few more shots, allowing them to climb to a hard fought 16 point halftime lead.
Potsdam’s length made it tough for Canton to get going in the third quarter. The Bears were unable to get much going offensively in the half court. However, Potsdam’s quick ball movement caused the Bears to break down a few times, allowing them to cut the lead to 12 early in the fourth quarter.
The reserves did an excellent job of coming into the game in the 4th quarter and maintaining the lead. Sam Fadden had a big old-fashioned three point play to extend the lead midway through the quarter.
Canton was lead offensively by Andy Downs (32 points), Caleb Bentley-Hicks (10 points), Ashton Cloce (7 points) , and Sam Fadden (5 points), with a multitude of other bears contributing as well.
