The Canton varsity hockey team came away with a big 3-2 win against Potsdam on Friday.
The Bears fell behind early, with Potsdam netting the first goal of the game, but the Bears did not stay down for long. Soon after sophomore forward Rhett Palmer scored to tie the game 1-1.
Palmer would score again in similar fashion, this time with the help of junior forward Trey Bessette, to give the Bears a 2-1 advantage early in the second period.
Junior defenseman Peter Coakley would then make the game 3-1 Canton on a low shot assisted by Palmer and senior defenseman Connor Snell.
Potsdam then answered on the next shift, making it 3-2 going into the third period, but Canton regained control and finished the game strong to secure the 3-2 win.
The Bears improved to 2-0 in league play and will travel to Cortland/Ithaca for two non-league contests next weekend.
