The Lady Bears fought hard in Monday night’s game against the Massena Red Raiders but fell short, losing 4-2.
Lucy Decoteau tallied her first varsity goal at the 12:24 mark of the third period. Emily Estabrooks scored her first varsity goal for the Golden Bears final goal at the 9:29 mark of the third to bring the Bears to within one. Unfortunately Massena answered with a goal of their own to bring the score to 4-2.
“I thought the girls showed great improvement from the Salmon River game,” said Coach Anita Francis. “We were able to skate with them the whole game and keep the pressure on.”
The Bears had a number of good scoring opportunities throughout the game but were unable to capitalize on them. Mackenzie Wiggins had a strong showing with 22 saves between the pipes.
Canton will host Potsdam in a league contest Wednesday at 5:15.
