This coming weekend numerous skaters from the St.Lawrence Figure Skating Club will compete and test at The Snowflake Competition in Potsdam. They will also be holding their holiday show on Sunday, Dec. 15.
For the majority of skaters at the SLFSC, this weekend’s events will begin their competitive season. Throughout the winter, skaters tend to compete in Potsdam, Watertown, Massena, and Lake Placid. Lake Placid holds the Empire State Winter Games, which is the largest competition majority of skaters attended. At this competition, they face skaters from across New York State. Also, at the ESWG, skaters can qualify for State Games of America, because of this many skaters look to have their best skate in Lake Placid.
This weekend’s competition in Potsdam takes place Saturday and Sunday. It will show skaters what they can improve on and look forward to throughout the season. The SLFSC has competitors across many different levels.
This diversity will also be showcased at the Holiday Exhibition. Most years younger skaters come and watch the older girls perform their routines, but some even make a routine, and participate as well. The exhibition will be held at SUNY Canton Roos House at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come watch- please bring a toy, they will be donated to Toys for Tots!
