Bears Volleyball Wins at Gouverneur

GOUVERNEUR – The Canton Bears varsity volleyball team notched a road win Monday night, defeating Gouverneur 25-15, 25-14, 25-14.

The team focused on consistency in all aspects of their game, used all members of their squad and even recorded kills from seven different players, a season high.

The team served the majority of the match with hitters Jillian DiSalvo and Mattigan Porter each recording four aces. The consistent communication and strong offensive assertiveness led the team to their strong victory. Hitter Gretchen Warner had 10 kills and three aces. Hitter Katie Bennett produced four kills, one assist, and a block to win the second set. Setter Kelsea Whittier assisted 15 times and the team as a whole returned 11 serves.

The Bears will host Potsdam Tuesday night in a 6 p.m. start. During this match-up, Canton will look to continue their success from the two prior matches. The team fell to Potsdam on the road in five sets earlier this season. Come support the Golden Bears in their quest to win their final two matches at home, tonight and Thursday. Go Bears!
