The Canton Boys JV Soccer team went on the road Monday and came away with a victory by the score of 4-2 over JV rival Madrid-Waddington.
The wheels weren’t turning for the Bears early in the game and the wind was preventing any consistent scoring opportunities. Madrid-Waddington scored two goals in the first half, and Canton only had one which was a pretty goal headed by Josh Aldous on a cross from Jack Kerrigan.
Down by one with the wind in the second half, the Bears pressured the defense on a corner kick resulting in a penalty shot for Owen Hall tying the game 2-2. It stayed tied until Freshman Vincent “Stick” Nelson-Fuse scored his first goal of the year on another cross from Kerrigan to put Canton up by a goal. Josh Aldous scored another goal late to give the Bears a two goal lead and that’s the way the game ended.
The Junior Bears are now 8-3 and will be in action again on Wednesday at home against Malone. Game Time 4:30 p.m.
