The Canton girl’s modified volleyball team continued to roll on Tuesday as they swept Tupper Lake 3-0 for their sixth consecutive win.  The Bears won the first two sets 25-6 and 25-8, and then rallied to win the final set 25-23.

In the first set, the Bears led 10-5, and then stretched that advantage to 21-5 thanks to 11 straight serves and six aces from Katie Metcalf.  Josie Gabriel also had a nice kill at the net during that run.  Kyleigh Gollinger closed the set with a kill of her own.

Canton jumped out on the Lumberjacks 5-1 to start the second set thanks to a pair of kills from Metcalf.  The lead was extended to 8-2 following two aces from Lilly Borrelli.  The Bears were up 17-8 and then ended the set with an 8-0 run thanks to seven aces from Maura Onyper.

The final set went back and forth as the lead changed hands five times before Tupper Lake went ahead 22-16.  Cecily Shipman served two times and had one ace as the Bears cut the lead down to 22-18.  The Lumberjacks scored one more point to lead 23-18, and then Gollinger spurred the Bears to a 7-0 run delivering three aces to lead Canton to the win.  Emma Logan added two aces in the final set.

The Bears are back in action on Thursday, October 3 when they hit the road to play at Brushton-Moira.
