A solid showing for the Canton Boys JV Bears soccer team puts another win in the books with a 5-3 decision over a strong Madrid-Waddington squad.
Canton scored the first goal on a shot by Bradley Frank but Madrid-Waddington struck back three minutes later on a shot that was placed perfectly to the right of Drew Johnson. Both Canton netminders, Cade Chezum and Drew Johnson, played solid between the pipes for the Bears, keeping the opposing team’s offense at bay.
A recovery for the Bears meant another goal before the half that was scored by Owen Hall and assisted by Frank. In the second half, the Bears fared just as well, with Hall, Frank, and Michael Cogdill all scoring goals with Frank and Hall both adding assists.
Canton was sound both offensively and defensively but Madrid-Waddington scored two more goals to end the game to close out the scoring. Owen Hall and Jack Filiatrault both had outstanding games on both ends of the field. Frank kept the opposition running scared, with a big game, tallying four points on the night.
Next week the Bears will return to the field on Wednesday traveling to Salmon River.
