The Canton girl’s modified volleyball team won for the second straight night as they swept Clifton-Fine in three straight sets.  The Bears won 25-18, 25-9, and 25-19.

Autumn Bronson and Laurel Whittier each notched aces early in the first set putting the Bears up 10-6.  Kyleigh Gollinger followed with three aces as Canton built their lead to 15-10.  Clifton Fine countered with three straight points.  Josie Gabriel recorded a kill to stop the run for the Bears, and then Whittier delivered a pair of aces that pushed Canton in the lead 22-14.  The Bears had set point at 24-18, and Gollinger nailed an ace to give Canton a 1-0 lead.

Gollinger added five more aces in the second set, Gabriel had one, and Whittier closed set number two with an ace for a 2-0 advantage.

The Bears continued their strong serving in the third set when Cecily Shipman served four straight times, including a pair of aces to give Canton a 10-7 lead.  Clifton Fine battled back with a 5-0 run to take a two-point lead, 12-10.  Following a Bears timeout, Alexa Romano served four good serves to put Canton back on top 15-13.  Romano made another good play for a point a short time later as the Bears stretched their lead to 21-15, and would eventually win by six, 25-19.

The modified team will play their third home match this week on Thursday when they take on Madrid-Waddington at 4 p.m. in Canton.
