With star foreword Jack Filiatrault sick at home because of a head cold and breathing problems the Canton Boys JV Soccer team left the spectators breathless for the duration of the game and the game ended in a 4-1 win.
The Bears scored early on a pass from Vincent Nelson Fuse that led to a Josh Aldous goal. The Carthage offense sustained pressure on the Bears, and while they had many chances, they were held off by the Canton netminders.
Rebounding from a tough loss the day before, the goalies put on a splendid performance between them, letting in only one goal on numerous scoring chances. Drew Johnson and Cade Chezum both kept hopes of winning alive with more saves than the Coast Guard today.
After the short break for halftime, it was much of the same story for Canton, with offensive chances few and far between. This all changed with 8 minutes to go in regulation, Owen Hall rocketed a shot over the Carthage goalie on a pass from Bradley Frank. In the next four minutes, the Bears came alive offensively with an excellent shot from defender Tanner Hazelton and another moonshot from Owen Hall to finish up the scoring for Canton and pushing their record to 3-1 this season. (2-1 League play)
