The Bears faced another battle in the second league game of the season. The game ended 2-1, Massena on top, but the lady Bears provided a challenge to the opponent all 80 minutes. The Raiders’ L. Rodgers put in the first goal early in the first half. After the first goal, the Bears continued to attack offensively but couldn’t drive one in. Bailee Bessette played well in the defensive end for Canton. However, before the end of the first half, Massena added to the board to make it 2-0. The second goal was scored by N. Legrow and assisted by L. Bingham.
Although Canton went into the second half down two points, they knew they had the potential to win the game. They dominated the whole field and 15 minutes in, Freshman Etta Coburn made a great cross to Junior Hannah Reed, and they were able to put one in the net. Momentum began to build and Canton possessed the ball in the offensive zone for the majority of the second half. They kept attempting to tie it up, but weren’t able to, even though they had control of the play. The game was very competitive and the Bears look forward to a rematch later in the season.
The lady bears look to get their first win of the season Monday night at CCS vs. Malone. We would love to see you there.
