Coming off of their tournament win, the Varsity Volleyball team was excited to play Tuesday night. They faced the Salmon River Shamrocks at home, and focused on offense as a strength of their game. The Bears won in three sets, 25-14, 25-18, 25-22.
The Bears were able to find consistency in their strong serving and offense. The hitters kept the Shamrocks on their toes, while the defense was the backbone of the team. Compared to the season opener, the Bears made minor changes to showcase their offensive powerhouses and be more successful all around.
The entire team contributed to the win. Many different players were able to see the floor and be successful. The Bears have focused on a team mentality this season and every team member was able to do their job Tuesday night. To lead the offense, middle hitter, Gretchen Warner had 12 kills and three aces. Outside hitter, Sydney Lorence had six kills and two digs, and middle hitter, Jillian DiSalvo had five kills and seven digs. Setter Kelsea Whittier added 24 assists and two aces while defensive specialist, Gabbie Rauth had eight digs (all players mentioned are seniors).
The Bears hope to continue their rhythm of strong offense on Thursday. They play against Malone at home at 6 p.m. Come watch the high energy and fast paced fun of Canton Varsity Volleyball. Go Bears!
